The Washington Post shows hypocrisy by targeting Elon Musk, Read more

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, poked fun at The Washington Post in response to a post condemning his growing influence on Twitter. Elon Musk has been criticized by The Washington Post for buying a 9% share in Twitter. The article further states that rich people shouldn’t be allowed to buy such channels of communication. However, this shows the level of hypocrisy that The Washington Post has been bought by the billionaire Jeff Bezos himself. We always say that news should also be run without any influence from the rich.

Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post in 2013 for a total amount of $250 million USD.

The delicate feud between the world’s two richest men, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, could have devolved into a fight after the Washington Post, which is owned by Amazon’s founder, published an article critical of Tesla’s CEO.

On Monday, reports surfaced that Musk had purchased a 9.2 percent stake in Twitter, a surprising move given Musk’s previous hints that he was considering creating his own social media platform in order to promote free speech, an area in which he implied Twitter lagged.

The article made several jabs at Musk, claiming that Elon’s appointment to Twitter’s board demonstrates the need for social media platform regulation to prevent wealthy individuals from controlling communication channels.

Bezos owns Blue Origin, a space company, and Musk founded SpaceX. Musk won a case filed by Bezos’ firm last November over a contract NASA awarded to the Tesla CEO after initially scouting both to execute the $2.9 billion contract.

He had been awarded the contract in August 2021. Following the filing of the lawsuit, Musk stated, “If lobbying and lawyers could get you into orbit, Bezos would be on Pluto right now.”
