WhatsApp made world record of 1.4 billion voice and video calls on New Year’s Eve 2020
The conglomerate company Facebook has announced today that its most popular platform for sharing files, images, and messages-WhatsApp has made a record; and became the first messenger app to do so.
On this new year’s eve, Whatsapp users across the world made over 1.4 billion voice and video calls on New Year’s Eve 2020, making it the most ever calls in a single day on the platform.
Facebook’s other platforms like Instagram, Messenger, and the original FB platform also saw a sudden surge in usage on New Year’s Eve.
Although there is the norm that these platforms are busy than usual in the festive season and on New Year’s Eve. The giant company CEO Mark said that this year they saw a record-breaking surge in the platform’s use. The main reason for this we can anticipate is pandemic. Due to social distancing norms and cancellation of parties and celebrations at most of the places around the globe can be contemplated as the main reason for this increase. So people chose to stay indoors mostly and inclined more towards technology to maintain their social relations in a socially distanced manner.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has reportedly, brought voice and video calls to select desktop users that will enable them to make WhatsApp calls directly from their computers.
