Whatsapp users now add music to Status updates

Whatsapp status is a medium for users to share their life’s moments with friends and family, and now, a new feature has been introduced to enhance the way users share updates. Just like on Instagram, you can share a story while adding a soundtrack that suits your image or video, now on Whatsapp, users can also add music to Status updates.

While creating a status, users will now see a music note icon at the top of their screen. On tapping the icon, you will unlock a library of songs to pick from a wide range of lists—today’s top hits, something new, or the earworm that’s stuck on your head. You can choose a particular part of a song that suits your selected image or video. Song duration for a photo is 15 seconds, while for a video, it is 60 seconds.

This new feature is being rolled out globally and will be expanded over the next few weeks. Also it is clarified that your status is end-to-end encrypted so the company can’t see what you share and which song is added to your status.
