Ashok Elluswamy, an Indian origin, Elon Musk’s first hire for Tesla Autopilot
Tesla’s founder and CEO, Elon Musk, recently announced that an engineer from India was the first to join Tesla’s Autopilot program.
Ashok Elluswamy, the director of Autopilot Software at Tesla, was hired after Musk tweeted that he was looking for candidates to work on the autopilot team. For the last eight years, Elluswamy has been associated with the company.
“Ashok was the first person recruited from my tweet saying that Tesla is starting an Autopilot team!“ Musk tweeted on December 29, responding to a Twitter excerpt from one of his interviews.
As his LinkedIn profile states, Ashok Elluswamy is a robotics engineer with experience in computer vision and perception through planning and control.
Carnegie Mellon University in the United States was where he studied robotics systems development. At the College of Engineering, Guindy in Chennai, he received a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication.
