The Central Intelligence Agency is a civilian foreign intelligence service of the federal government of the United States, officially tasked with gathering, processing and analyzing the national security threats from around the world.
Unlike the FBI, the CIA focuses on the overseas intelligence gathering with only limited domestic control.
With the establishment of CIA, its main purpose was to create a clear house for foreign policy intelligence to the United States, the CIA has five major responsibilities:
- Counterterrorism’
- Counterintelligence
- Cyber intelligence
- Warning of harmful overseas events
- Nonprolifferation
In context to the national security and some harmful mishappenings taking place in the US, Elon Musk tweeted that “does anyone feel being watched on” to which CIA replied in one word “They’re”.
However, this was on a much more humorous side of the context.
