Cloudflare introduces Post-Quantum security for Zero Trust Network access

Cloudflare has added post-quantum cryptography support to its Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solution. Organizations can now enable quantum-safe connectivity from web browsers to corporate web applications, with broader protocol support expected by mid-2025.

This update helps businesses transition to post-quantum encryption without upgrading each corporate application individually. As quantum computing advances, encryption methods may become vulnerable, posing risks to financial institutions, government agencies, and enterprises.

Key Features

  • Quantum-safe security: Protects corporate web applications and Internet traffic from future quantum threats.
  • Simplified implementation: Companies can enable quantum-safe access to corporate applications without upgrading each one separately.
  • Extended protection: By mid-2025, Cloudflare will support all IP protocols for secure encryption across offices, cloud environments, and data centers.

Matthew Prince, CEO of Cloudflare, emphasized the importance of making post-quantum security standard, stating, “We want every Cloudflare customer to have a clear path to quantum safety.”

Tom Patterson, security lead at Accenture, noted, “The world has five years to replace vulnerable cryptography with post-quantum solutions.”

Availability

Cloudflare’s quantum-safe Secure Web Gateway and clientless Access configurations are now available, with WARP-client-to-tunnel network configurations coming by mid-2025.
