Conte believes Spurs need not be concerned about the pressure they will face against Liverpool
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte says his squad should not be afraid of pressure when they travel to Liverpool on Saturday for a Premier League match against one of the finest teams in the world. With four games remaining, Tottenham is in fifth place in the Premier League with 61 points, two points outside the top four. They face a stiff test against second-placed Liverpool, who have only lost once at home all season in all competitions. Conte challenged his team to give it their all, with Liverpool unbeaten in their last 13 games and chasing Manchester City for the league crown.
Conte told reporters on Thursday: “For sure we know that at this moment Liverpool are in really good form. We’ve prepared for the game very well. We need to be very good without the ball, to be good defensively, but if we want to win, we have to be very good with the ball. We need to play a good game, not to be scared of the pressure.” Conte praised Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp, whose team is attempting an unprecedented quadruple this season.
Juergen Klopp is doing an excellent job with this club, according to Conte, especially for an English team arriving late in the season and still competitive in all competitions. He considers it amazing. He added: “You can see Liverpool’s players. They run a lot and they don’t have many injuries. They’re doing a fantastic job. Their enthusiasm is 200% and you don’t feel fatigued at this point.”
“We need to go there and play our game. We are in the race for a place in the Champions League and we have to find a way to get points in every game. We are playing against one of the best teams in the world away. We prepare like usual.” Conte said he is uncertain if defender Sergio Reguilon, who is out with a groin injury, would play in the remaining matches. He hasn’t done any training with them. Conte honestly doesn’t know; there are only two weeks left in the season, and he’s not sure if Sergio will return.
