CSK VS DC: DJ Bravo takes the final two wickets to bring the DC innings to a conclusion
Chennai Super Kings win by 91 runs, the largest margin of victory in the IPL so far. Following being put in to bat, Chennai’s openers got off to a brilliant start, putting on another century stand, after which Conway continued his fine form, scoring his third half-century in a row to take CSK to 208.
In the chase, Delhi got off to a fast start, scoring 59 runs in the Powerplay, before Moeen Ali and the other Chennai bowlers chipped in with wickets and bowled Delhi out for 117. The match ended with DC all out after losing two wickets in two deliveries. Dwayne Bravo claimed both of the wickets. The first was a long ball pitched outside the leg stump. Shardul Thakur tries to flick the delivery down the leg, but it gets the inside edge and lands in the keeper’s hand.
On the second, a full toss ball, Khaleel Ahmed is fooled by the slower one and the ball smashes the stumps. The Chennai Super Kings completely destroyed the Delhi Capitals with their bowling. DC had early setbacks in their chase for a 209-run total, with debutant KS Bharat (8) and David Warner (19) retiring inside the Powerplay. After the early punches, Mitchell Marsh (20) and Rishabh Pant (21) attempted a counter-attack but attempted one shot too many, and Moeen Ali disqualified both players.
Their wickets sparked a batting collapse, with DC falling from 72/3 to 85/7 in just 21 deliveries. Mukesh Choudhary, Simarjeet Singh, and Dwayne Bravo each took two wickets, while Moeen Ali took three (3/13 in four overs). As CSK reached 208/6 in 20 overs, Devon Conway (87) shone with the bat, while MS Dhoni (21*) and Shivam Dube (32) made significant contributions.
