Several ministers from different states proposed him regarding the setup of Tesla in their states after Musk’s tweet on January 13.

Two days ago, Tesla received an offer from Telangana’s Industry and Commerce Minister. He mentioned Musk in his tweet and said that his state his happy to partner Tesla in his state. He tweeted ,”Hey Elon, I am the Industry & Commerce Minister of Telangana state in India Will be happy to partner Tesla in working through the challenges to set shop in India/Telangana Our state is a champion in sustainability initiatives & a top notch business destination in India.”

Recently, Minister-in-charge for Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education in Bengal, Md Ghulam Rabbani invited Musk to set up his electric vehicle business in Bengal .He replied to Musk’s tweet and said ,”Drop here, we in West Bengal have best infra & our leader @MamataOfficialhas got the vision. Bengal means Business …” Although , the tweet was mocked at by people as well as BJP leaders.

Responding to Rabbani’s tweet Amit Malviya, In-charge of BJP’s National Information & Technology Dept replied ,”You might think it is a joke. But it isn’t! West Bengal’s minister in charge for Minority Affairs and Madrasa Education has made an offer to Elon Musk to come invest in WB. His pitch will start with Mamata Banerjee’s record on post poll violence and end with Singur agitation?”

After Telangana and Bengal, Maharashtra’s State Water Resources Minister, Jayant Patil has also invited Musk to establish his manufacturing plant in Maharashtra. He said,”@elonmusk , Maharashtra is one of the most progressive states in India. We will provide you all the necessary help from Maharashtra for you to get established in India. We invite you to establish your manufacturing plant in Maharashtra.” The Minister stated that his state is an ideal and one of the most progressive state for Tesla to get established.

A couple of days after Musk tweeted, Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh invited the industrialist to Ludhiana aiming to transform the city as a hub for EV industry. He mentioned ,”I invite @elonmusk, Punjab Model will create Ludhiana as hub for Electric Vehicles & Battery industry with time bound single window clearance for investment that brings new technology to Punjab, create green jobs, walking path of environment preservation & sustainable development.”

Two years ago, Musk had mentioned  that Tesla would set up its manufacturing units for EVs in India .One of the company’s subsiduary firm based in Bengaluru has already been set up .Presently due to high import duties imposed by the government the company is facing many challenges .Musk has asked to standardize the high import duties on electric vehicles .The custom duties ranges up to 100 percent for EVs above $40,000 .Last year, in October, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport had asked Tesla not to sell China made EVs in India. He asked the company to manufacture its EVs in India instead.

Manufacture of Tesla in Indian markets would give a rapid boost to India’s EV market .Moreover ,Indians would also get employment if the manufacturing units are set up in India .Secondly, if India becomes the hub for manufacturing  the same cars would be available in an affordable range which in turn would boost the sale of EVs .India’s self reliant schemes like Make in India can be accomplished as well after the set up of manufacturing units within our own country .Introduction of EVs would also help in improving the environment.

Ideal conditions of setting up Tesla’s manufacturing units is present in each of the four states. Elon Musk’s update on invitations from all of the four states would be highly anticipating.
