As per the News18 Bengali article, Lal divorced his first wife Reena a few years ago after the two agreed to get divorced. However, due to an ailment, the former India batter continues to reside with her. It is also reported that after their marriage, Arun and his soon-to-be second wife Bul Bul will look after the unwell Reena. Meanwhile, the wedding has been invited by the Bengal cricket team, CAB officials, and other close relatives and friends of the couple. Sourav Ganguly, the president of the BCCI, is also expected to attend. Lal has known Ganguly for a long time, much of it because of his more than three-decade affiliation with Bengal cricket.

Between 1982 and 1989, Arun Lal represented India in 16 Tests and 13 One-Day Internationals. Lal grew to fame as a pundit for both domestic and international games, and he was a regular figure behind the microphone until 2016 when he was diagnosed with jaw cancer. Lal is now cancer-free and has been a key factor in Bengal’s return to the Ranji Trophy final in 2019-20 after a 13-year absence. Bengal qualified for the quarterfinals of the current season after amassing the most points (18) with three consecutive victories.
