God of War, developed by Santa Monica Studios, was released on PC on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 9:30 PM IST.
Kratos, the Greek God of War, returns in this latest entry of the iconic action-adventure franchise after defeating the Gods of Olympus. He has now settled in the Nine Realms of Norse mythology with his son, Atreus.
God of War was released for the PlayStation 4 nearly four years ago to critical and commercial acclaim, including multiple nominations for Game of the Year in 2018.
In the latest title, the iconic double-chained sword was changed to a battle axe from the original trilogy, which debuted in 2005. By switching from a cinematic camera in the previous trilogy to an over-the-shoulder free camera, the developers at Santa Monica Studios took a major risk.
It was a huge gamble to change God of War’s pivotal features at the time, but it paid off nicely as fans loved the brutal and fast-paced gameplay.
There are several media outlets who have given the game perfect scores, leading many PlayStation users to consider it one of the best PS4 titles of all time. As well as selling over 20 million units, God of War made some serious cash.
