For the upcoming one-day series against the West Indies, Deepak Hooda has shown he can bat in any position.
India’s ODI team for the three-match series against the Windies includes Hooda, who has yet to play in an international match. If he’s selected to play, he’ll be expected to perform the role of a spin-bowling all-rounder.
Deepak Hooda expressed his willingness to play whatever role the team requires in an interaction with India News. His explanation was as follows:
“I am ready to play at any position and I believe as a batter, you should be prepared to play at any position. I go with that mindset. When you are playing for the country, your contribution matters more than your number.”
Despite his age, the 26-year-old has always considered himself an all-round player who can contribute with the ball as well. Deepak Hooda said:
“I am an all-rounder only. I have been playing as an all-rounder since I was 19. There were times when I could have bowled, but I consider myself to be a utility player and a good all-rounder.”
The 2257 runs Hooda has accumulated in 74 List A matches he has played are averaged at 38.25. He has also taken 35 wickets in these matches.
Over the last couple of seasons of the IPL, Hooda played 19 games for the Punjab Kings. Despite a few spectacular knocks, he wasn’t consistent enough and was even dropped for a few games.
