India vs South Africa 3rd Test Day 4 Highlights: SA win by 7 wickets to seal series 2-1
Despite losing the first Test in Centurion, the Proteas made a remarkable comeback to beat India by the same margin in the second match in Johannesburg. South Africa sealed the series 2-1 with its win in the third and final Test in Cape Town.
South Africa began the fourth day at 101 for 2 after Dean Elgar and Keegan Petersen put on a 78-run stand. The target was an easy 212 runs. Despite this, Elgar was out with what proved to be the last ball of the day, when he edged seamer Jasprit Bumrah to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. Elgar had earlier been furious when the ball-tracking technology was abolished when he was on 22. First-innings scores for India were 223 and South Africa 210, while the second-innings total was 198.
With the game finishing in 63.3 overs on day 101/2, South Africa were able to get the job done with contributions from Keegan Petersen (82) and Rassie van der Dussen (41 not out) as well as Temba Bavuma (32). A one-on-to-stump shot by Shardul Thakur dismissed Petersen as the only wicket on the day.
India remains unconquered in the final frontier. This series may mark a transition period for India, particularly in their batting lineup, as Virat Kohli and company failed to win on South African soil to end their winless series streak.
