India’s External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson gave a befitting reply to OIC
In a recent tweet, External Affairs Ministry’s official spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that the Government of India (GOI) is highly respectful towards all kinds of religions, and they reject the “unwarranted and narrow-minded comment”, made by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Mr. Bagchi also added, “The offensive tweets and comments denigrating a religious personality were made by certain individuals. They do not, in any manner, reflect the views of the GOI.”
Widespread anger has surfaced the social media upon BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s remarks on a television debate about Prophet Muhammad. The BJP has already suspended two individuals, Naveen Jindal including Nupur Sharma from their official positions in relation to the matter.
The Muslim groups of the Gulf countries were fuming over the current incident. The party has already issued a statement maintaining its respect for all minorities and religions.

However, Mr. Bagchi from MEA expressed his distress over OIC’s comments on Twitter, and said, “It is regrettable that OIC Secretariat has yet again chosen to make motivated, misleading and mischievous comments.”
He also mentioned that strong actions have been taken against the individuals hurting religious sentiments.
