MediaTek and Kuaishou Can Together Bring On-Device Video Creation On Dimensity 8300, Dimensity 9300
MediaTek is reported to have announced efficient end-side video generation technology jointly with the Kuaishou. This comes from the Chinese media outlet ithome. As per the report, it combines Kuaishou’s AI model image to video with the AI computing power of MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 and Dimensity 8300 processor to generate videos from static images. This will require the user to just simply select the image on the device and the application will itself recognize the different elements in the image to create a video efficiently.
The on-device AI work does need a lot of work and for that, MediaTek Dimensity 8300 and Dimensity 9300 have NPU designed for Artificial Intelligence. It should accelerate the AI on device calculation and help in faster video generation consuming the device’s low power. This is a great advancement in the field of AI when users won’t have to face the limit of most of the platforms in generating videos from the images or the problem of their pictures being processed on the server for the given task.
Qualcomm is also working on offering on-device LLM capabilities to Android smartphones. Recently Qualcomm CMO, Don McGuire said in response to a question asked by the Gadget 360 “We can already do that today. We can already support Meta’s LLMs, we can already support Gemini, and we can already support OpenAI’s LLMs. We can already support the different models from AI hyperscalers on the Snapdragon platform.” So much is cooking in the AI world; we will keep an eye on it to give you all updates about it.
