Qualcomm Officially Unveils Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset Powered By Qualcomm Oryon CPU
Qualcomm has finally unveiled its much-anticipated chipset- Snapdragon 8 Elite. Earlier it was said that the chipset would be called Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 but Qualcomm decided to rename this chipset to Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. Let’s dive in to know all the details of this latest chipset.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite: Features
This chipset is built on TSMCs 3nm process mode and is powered by Oryon CPU architecture that has a maximum CPU frequency of 4.32GHz. It is said to offer a 44% boost in CPU performance, 40% Adreno GPU performance, and 27% overall power savings. It is said to be a Generative AI powerhouse with the fastest Qualcomm Hexagon NPU that is claimed to be 45% faster.
Gaming performance is said to be improved by 40% while Ray tracing performance is improved by 35%. It uses new sliced gaming architecture, onboard GMEM, Unreal Engine nanite, and Chaos Engine. Connectivity options include- Snapdragon X80 Modern RF System 5 Advanced, FastConnect 7900, AI Enhanced WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and integrated UWB. Some of the sound features include Qualcomm Expanded Personal Area Network technology 24-bit, 96KHz lossless audio, and spatial audio with head tracking.
Security options are Truepic with C2PA video and audio IP Protection for AI models. Now coming to the camera features, the chipset includes Limitless segmentation, AI Relighting, AI Pet Suite, and Video Magic Eraser. It supports up to 48MP triple camera at 30fps with zero shutter lag, up to 108MP single camera, and up to 32MP photo capture. It supports up to LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, QHD+ display at 240Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HDR Vivid.
The smartphones that are confirmed to feature this latest chipset are- the Xiaomi 15 series and Realme GT 7 Pro. Leading OEMs and smartphone brands- ASUS, Honor, iQOO, OnePlus, Oppo, Samsung, Vivo, and more are said to launch devices powered by this all-new chipset in the coming weeks.
