Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 with 31% improved CPU, 49% improved GPU and 5G Modern RF- System launched
Qualcomm has finally launched its all-new Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC. It was earlier rumored to be called Snapdragon 8s Elite, but it looks like Qualcomm has chosen a different path. This chipset arrives with 31% improved CPU performance, 49% improved PU performance, and 44% improved AI performance when compared to the previous generation chipset.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4: Features
The chipset arrives with Qualcomm Kryo CPU with 64-bit architecture, prime core up to 3.2GHz, and performance cores up to 3.0GHz. It is equipped with Qualcomm AI Engine, Qualcomm Sensing Hub, support for a variety of leading LLMs and LVMs, and 2x larger shared memory for improved memory bandwidth. There is a Snapdragon 5G Modern-RF System that supports downlink up to 4.2 Gbps. The chipset supports Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, WiFi 7, Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite, Qualcomm aptX voice, aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, and LE audio.
For audio, it supports Aqstic audio codec, Aqstic smart speaker amplifier, and spatial audio with head tracking. For display, it supports WQHD @144Hz (on-device) and 4K @60Hz (external), variable refresh rate support for 240Hz to 1Hz, HDR10, HDR10+, HDR Vivid, and Dolby Vision. It offers real-time Hardware-Accelerated Ray Tracing with global illumination, Snapdragon Adaptive game configuration, Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine, Snapdragon game Super resolution 2.0, Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0, Snapdragon Shadow Denoiser, and Snapdragon game Post Processing Accelerator.
Users can revolutionize their capture with 18-bit Triple AI ISP. The chipset provides limitless real-time Semantic Segmentation photo and video processing, an Engine for Visual Analytics 4.0, support for triple video capture from HDR image sensors, with seamless switching between any HDR mode. AI-based face detection, AI for 3A, up to 10-bit color depth photo and video capture, slow-mo video capture at 1080p @480 FPS, Hardware Bokeh Engine 2, ultra-low light video capture with AI Noise Reduction in 4K30 FPS are other camera features offered.
For security purposes, it includes Trust Management Engine, support for Android’s DICE-based remote key provisioning, Qualcomm Trusted Executive Environment, Qualcomm Type-1 Hypervisor, Qualcomm wireless edge services, Qualcomm 3D Sonic sensor, and Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max.
It supports triple frequency GNSS, sensor-assisted positioning 6.0, Quick charge 5G technology, LPDDR5x RAM up to 4800MHz, Snapdragon Elite gaming features, UFS 4.0, USB version 3.1 Gen 2, and USB Type-C.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4: Availability
Many leading OEM manufacturers and brands like REDMI, iQOO, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Meizu will soon be launching Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 powered devices in the next few months. iQOO Z10 Turbo Pro has already been announced to be powered by this all-new chipset and launch later this month in China.
