IPL 2022: IPL chairman confirms that IPL 2022 will be played with fans in the stadium

According to Brijesh Patel, the IPL chairman, the tournament won’t be played in front of empty stands like the last few editions, except for the UAE leg of the tournament in 2021. The IPL will kick off on March 26. The full schedule will be released soon. We will also have crowds as per the Maharashtra government’s policy. Whether it is 25 or 50 per cent of the stadium capacity will be determined by the order,” IPL chairman said.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday, May 29. There have been talks of holding the playoffs in Ahmedabad, but the venues have yet to be determined. “We will decide about the play-offs later,” said Patel.

The BCCI has made a definitive statement that the league won’t go overseas for the first time. The BCCI had planned to consider overseas venues, such as South Africa and Sri Lanka, but the improved Covid situation in India has encouraged it to hold the 10-team league in India. According to Patel, the exact number of days and the full schedule will be announced soon.
