Manchester United fans protested outside Old Trafford ahead of their match against Brentford about the ownership of Glazer
Manchester United supporters planned a walkout during their Premier League match against Brentford, but the Red Devils won comfortably at Old Trafford. On Monday night, before the game against the Bees, there were protests outside the stadium, with the Glazer family as the target. It wasn’t the first time the long-time owners had sparked outrage among fans.
Supporters gathered in large numbers ahead of kickoff, with the demonstrations even delaying the entrance of visiting Brentford fans. They fired flares before strolling from the front of Old Trafford to the Munich tunnel and Old Trafford’s corporate entrance.
United fans have done the same in recent home games, notable games against Norwich and Chelsea. They’ve been protesting against current owners, the Glazer family, with their renowned green and gold colors.
The 1958, a fan group, had urged fans to leave 17 minutes before full-time to commemorate the Glazers’ 17-year ownership of the club. It follows a similar incident before United’s home match against Norwich when a push to enter Old Trafford in the 17th minute occurred. The groups are reportedly preparing regular rallies from now until the end of the year to force reform at the club.
