Mateusz Klich believes it will be difficult as they prepare for a Premier League match against Crystal Palace
Mateusz Klich, a midfielder for Leeds United, spoke to the media ahead of Monday’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace. Leeds will play for the first time in almost two weeks at Selhurst Park, following their three-nil triumph over Watford. Klich believes the club has benefited from the time without a game.
Leeds United has suddenly found itself in a relegation battle. Leeds appeared to be out of reach for Everton and Burnley after taking 10 of a possible 12 points in their last four games, but the Peacocks have been off since April 9 due to games in hand. Burnley has won seven of a possible 12 points in the last two weeks, while Everton has collected four of nine. Leeds United are now only four points ahead of Everton in 18th place as a result of all of this.
Leeds also has the most difficult remaining schedule of the three teams. On Monday, the Peacocks visit Crystal Palace before facing Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Brighton, and Brentford. A trip to Palace is far from a foregone conclusion, but on paper, it appears to be one of Leeds’ best chances to pick up points and avoid being drawn back into the relegation scrap.
Leeds remained +230 underdogs at Selhurst Park, despite being in superior overall form and having a lot more to play for than Palace. Klich said: “I think a break always helps. We had some health issues, I personally had some problems with my hip so I think the rest was good for all of us. I know we had a couple of good results in the last couple of games so overall I think that the break was good.”
The Whites have won three of their past four Premier League games, and Klich is aiming for more of the same in South London. Klich added: “We won against them in the first game, so let’s win again. They have very good individual players and are playing well right now and it’s going to be a tough game but there are no easy games.”
“I just hope we can get the result because it will help us massively. Until we are 100 percent sure that we are going to stay up, we can’t relax. We need to keep pushing because nobody is going to help us and we need to win games by ourselves.”
“It’s going to be an intense finish to the season and you need some mental strength to be able to cope with the situation, but I think we handle it pretty well.”
