Monkeypox can spread through ‘any close physical contact’
As the number of Monkeypox cases continue to elevate in the UK, Doctors have warned that close physical contact can facilitate its spread too. Reports by experts ascertains that the virus can be transmitted through large respiratory droplets and potentially even clothing and surfaces.
Scientists and the mass has been continuously raising concerns about the virus. The WHO and governments of the world are experiencing pressure to initiate actions on the condition.
Reports even point out to the direction that, WHO might soon designate Monkeypox as a global health emergency. Although the matter lacks majority opinion about considering it as an emergency, director-general of WHO, Tedros Andhanom Ghebreyesus may declare the agency’s highest level of alert for Monkeypox.
The director general Tedors Andhanom Ghebreyesus was supposed to lead a press conference today at 1300 GMT. Following it, WHO’s decision whether to announce the virus as a global health emergency will be clear.
More than 14,000 cases have been reported with five deaths from 71 WHO member states so far. At the end of June, there were only about 3000 cases.
US also reported two cases of Children infected with the virus today.
The outbreak of this viral disease was confirmed in the month of May, 2022.
