LG Display reveals lighter OLED panels

LG Display confirmed the introduction of a new 77-inch OLED TV screen with improved luminance at CES 2021.

The company claimed that the panel uses a new high-efficiency organic material and has an extra emission layer, which improves the efficiency of the luminance by 20%.

This will cause the panel to be brighter and thus convey lighter colors, said LG Display.

LG Electronics, meanwhile, has announced the introduction of a new OLED TV brand called OLED Evo, which will use these panels.

The South Korean electronics manufacturer clarified that the new TV brand would deliver much clearer resolutions than its previous OLED TVs, which it said had high contrast ratios, blacks, and large viewing angles.

Both LG Monitor and LG Electronics have not disclosed prices for these products.

LG Electronics has revealed plans to launch a new 83-inch OLED TV later this year. In particular, the company will have seven versions of OLED TVs with screen sizes over 70-inch this year, it added.

In the meanwhile, LG Monitor will display a 48-inch Cinematic Sound OLED (CSO) bending screen that can emit sound on its own without speakers. Aimed at gamers, the screen will be flat when used to display TV shows and will be angled when used to play sports.

It will also display different designs that use its translucent OLED panels.

At CES 2021, LG Electronics will also demonstrate the new MiniLED TV brand LG QNED. Meanwhile, Compatriot Samsung Electronics will showcase its own MiniLED TV brand, Neo QLED and 110-inch MicroLED TV, at the trade fair.
