OnePlus 12 officially confirmed to feature Lytia primary sensor

OnePlus is expected to unveil the OnePlus 12 flagship phone this month (November) in China. Rumours surrounding it have claimed that it will offer a top-notch camera experience. Today, OnePlus made an official announcement, revealing that the OnePlus 12 will be the first in the world to feature a high-end image sensor developed in collaboration with Sony.

OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus 12 will be equipped with a new Sony Lytia sensor. Earlier this year, Sony’s LYTIA image sensor brand partnered with OPPO to launch the LYT-T808 image sensor, which features double-layer transistor pixel technology. This camera sensor was first seen in the OPPO Find N3 / OnePlus Open foldable phone, which was announced last month.

Several leakers, including tipster Digital Chat Station, have claimed that the Sony LYT-T808 52-megapixel lens will be available as the primary camera sensor on the OnePlus 12. Li Jie, the President of OnePlus China, emphasised that the OnePlus 12 will not only incorporate Sony sensors but also combine them with Snapdragon technology and Hasselblad enhancements.

Reports have claimed that the OnePlus 12’s camera setup will have a 48-megapixel Sony IMX581 ultra-wide lens and a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto camera that will bring support for 3x optical zoom. It seems that the OP12 may feature the same camera setup that’s available on the OPPO Find N3 / OnePlus Open. For selfies, the device is likely to feature a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
