OnePlus 12’s 64MP periscope zoom camera confirmed, new camera samples released
OnePlus is preparing for the official unveiling of its flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 12, in China. Despite not yet disclosing the exact launch date, the company is progressively revealing the key features of its highly anticipated flagship device. The brand recently confirmed that it will be equipped with the latest Sony Lytia lens as the primary camera. Today, the company confirmed the details of the periscope zoom camera on the device.
Rumours are rife that the OnePlus 12 will feature the 53-megapixel LYT-T808 primary camera. The brand has now revealed that it will also feature a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera for higher optical zoom capabilities. As per reports, it will be backed by an OmniVision OV64B camera sensor.
Shown below are the new camera samples by OnePlus China President Li Jie that showcase the phone’s optical zoom capabilities. It reveals that the device will be capable of capturing amazing zoomed-in shots even in low-light conditions.
As per reports, the OnePlus 12 will have a 48-megapixel IMX581 camera for ultra-wide shots. In fact, the device is speculated to feature the same camera setup that is available on the OnePlus Open / Find N3 foldable phone, which went official last month.
The Chinese variant of the OnePlus 12, which bears the PJD110 model number, was recently approved by China’s 3C authority. It was revealed that the device may come with support for 100W wired charging. Apart from this, it is also expected to support 50W wireless charging.
The 3C certification is a good hint that the OnePlus 12 may debut this month in China. On the other hand, the global launch of the OP12 is said to take place in January 2024.
The OP12 is confirmed to feature a 2K BOE X1 OLED screen with curved edges. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-chipset powered device may offer up to 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage, and a 5,400mAh battery. It will have a 32-megapixel front camera and run on ColorOS 14-based Android 14 in the Chinese market.
