The upcoming OnePlus foldable, OnePlus Open, is expected to have its launch this month and now, the first look of the device has been revealed.

Here’s more about it.
OnePlus Open – First Look Revealed
To start with, the key area where the OnePlus Open has focused is regarding the hinge design. This new hinge design, which as mentioned by Pete Lau, has 35 patents, and is made using improved materials. It is well built is light in weight, has reduced size, and is the strongest in terms of its strength.
While comparing the foldable to OPPO’s Find N2, the OnePlus Open is also said to have 31 parts fewer on its hinge, which is the reason for the light-weight design, and is 37% smaller than the former. Another notable thing about the hinge is its gapless fold and in order to demonstrate its strength, a paper was inserted in between the fold and was held in the air, as you can see in the image. The device is so tightly folded that it doesn’t slip down from the enclosed paper.
Coming to its other details, we already know that the OnePlus foldable will likely be arriving in two color choices and the one featured in the video is the Emerald Eclipse (Green) color variant. The display looks quite large and has a centrally aligned punch-hole selfie camera. It has also been stated in the video that the device not just has a large display, but is also very convenient to hold.
On the right side panel, we can find the volume rocker and below it, the power button cum fingerprint scanner. At the left side panel, there is also an alert slider. Towards the bottom side panel, we can find the USB type-C charging port, two speaker grilles, a microphone hole, and a card tray. At the upper panel also we can see two speaker grilles and a microphone hole.
The camera module of the device for some reason has been covered, however, we are already aware of the rear camera design from previous reports. It will be having a circular Hasselblad-branded rear camera module housing three cameras, amongst which one is a telescope periscope lens, and the LED flash is outside the camera module at the top-left corner.
Pete Lau has further stated that the OnePlus Open will be a true flagship foldable device, bringing the efforts from both the OPPO team and the OnePlus team together in the making of the device. It will be having OPPO’s camera brilliance and excellent foldable design fused with OnePlus’ smoother powerful performance and burden-less design language. He has also added that the company will be taking different strategies in different markets.
At a later part of the video, when asked the question what is different about OnePlus’ foldable from Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5, Lau also joked by stating that it is “open”, pointing to its moniker – OnePlus Open.
About its launch, it has been officially confirmed to launch soon and as per what has been tipped, it will likely be unveiled on the 19th of October 2023, this month.
