Sony has officially announced the date of its Xperia Special Event 2024 that’s on May 17th in Tokyo. The poster shared by the company does not mention the smartphone(s) that will be launched at the event though guessing one should not be hard as per the recent buzz in the tech town. The event will be held in Terada Warehouse B&C HALL 2-1-3 Higashi-Shinagawa, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, and will start at JST: 7:00 PM, IST: 3:30 PM, EST: 6:00 AM, CST: 5:00 AM, and CET: 12:00 PM. This can be a Sony Xperia 1 VI smartphone that can be launched at the event.

The smartphone is reported to have gone through some major changes that include settling with a 2K display and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. This should make the smartphone shorter and wider than its predecessor which we recently saw in its leaked renders. The rest of the design aspect of the handset is tipped to be the same as its predecessor like the triple camera setup arranged vertically on the rear.

Now extrapolating the available information should mean that this smartphone can be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. In the camera department, the smartphone is said to come with three 48MP cameras on the rear. The smartphone can also get a touch of AI in various functions that’s quite a common thing with the flagship handsets this year.
