Xiaomi 14 Pro’s triple 50MP camera system to feature telemacro camera, support variable aperture
Speculations are rife that Xiaomi may announce the Xiaomi 14 series soon after Qualcomm unveils the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in October. Hence, it is being said that the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro may launch in the first half of November this year. A fresh leak that has emerged today talks about the rear camera setup of the Xiaomi 14 Pro.
Reports have revealed that the Xiaomi 14 Pro’s rear camera setup will have three 50-megapixel cameras. As per early rumours, the lineup will include a Sony IMX989 primary camera, an ultra-wide lens, and a periscope telephoto camera. However, a recent report revealed that the camera setup will not have a periscope zoom camera.
A new Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station suggests that instead of a periscope zoom camera, the Xiaomi 14 Pro may feature a telemacro camera, which combines telephoto and macro photography capabilities. In addition, the leak suggests that the primary snapper of the 14 Pro will have support for variable aperture.
A variable aperture for the main camera allows the camera to manually adjust the size of the lens aperture, which controls the amount of light entering the camera. This can improve low-light performance and depth of field, resulting in better photos in various lighting conditions.
As far as the periscope telephoto camera is concerned, it appears that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be the only phone in the series to feature it. As per reports, the 14 Ultra may debut with the Xiaomi MIX Flip in the first quarter of 2024.
