Carl Pei announced Nothing Chat will soon end green blue bubble drama
London-based tech company Nothing CEO Carl Pei recently announced that the company will launch Nothing Chat. This will allow Android users to message iPhone users like iMessage. It simply means that messages sent by Nothing Phone (2) users by Nothing Chat to iPhone users won’t appear in a green bubble but in a blue bubble.
This app is developed by Sunbird and it will have features such as live typing indicators, full-resolution media sharing, and voice notes, while reading receipt and message reaction will also come later. The Nothing Chats FAQ states that users will be required to log in with their existing Apple ID username or create a new account to start sending and receiving blue bubbles.

As per the company, it’s “only available for Phone(2) users in US, Canada, UK, and EU at this time”. Nothing founder Carl Pei announced this new app in a video on X. Pei then retweeted the post and tagged Cook asking him to consider adopting RCS-the new message standard. He wrote, “Let’s end the green bubble stigma! @tim_cook please consider adopting RCS for security and interoperability”.

Google has openly called out Apple to adopt the new messaging standard that won’t distinguish Apple users from Android users thus removing the stigma associated with it.
