Cortana app to shut down by Microsoft on Windows 11
AI- Artificial intelligence has seen a sudden growth for a year now and many of us also find it easier and less time-consuming while doing our day-to-day work. Well, the tech company Microsoft also seems to notice the changing preference of users as Microsoft has finally killed Cortana- it’s Windows phone era assistant that debuted on desktop with Windows 10. The company has now shut down the app from Windows 11. It appears that the company is also now in favor of AI.
Currently, a new update is rolling out for Cortana installation which disables the app automatically. Also if the users try to launch the app on Windows 11 they will be met with a notice that stated how Microsoft is planning to end support for Cortana in Teams mobile, Microsoft Teams display, and Microsoft Teams Rooms in the fall of 2023.
But according to the company Cortana in Outlook mobile will continue to be available. Well, Microsoft understands the impact this will have on users as they have suggested new and exciting ways they can get help with tasks, calendars, email, and more.
Alternative ways for the Cortana app suggested by Microsoft
- Voice access in Windows 11 lets you write text using your voice
- The new AI-powered Bing with which you can type or speak your questions and Bing chat will give you a succinct answer from multiple trusted sources
- Multiple 365 Copilot that uses your Microsoft 365 data- such as calendar, emails, chats, documents, and meetings to help you create, edit, share content and more
- Windows Copilot provides centralized AI assistance
Microsoft has also mentioned that in the future the company will be using AI to help users with innovative ways so that they can work smarter and faster.
