Google launched Gemini saying it “most capable and flexible AI model”

Google has announced its most capable and flexible AI model Gemini. It will be available to users globally from Wednesday. It will include Gemini Ultra, its most capable category, Gemini Pro, and Gemini Nano. Google says it’s Gemini Nano its most efficient model built for on-device tasks.

Google’s latest large language model was first teased by Pichai at the I/O developer conference in June. As per the announcement, Google has not followed the standard approach to create this multimodal model that “involve training separate components for different modalities and then stitching them together”.

It has been designed “to be natively multimodal, pre-trained from the start on different modalities”. Pichai says “you can work on one underlying technology and make it better and it immediately flows across our products.”

Users can experience the capabilities of Gemini Nano starting today as it’s running on Pixel 8 Pro, whereas the Gemini Ultra is coming next year. Enterprise customers and developers will be able to access the Gemini Pro through Google Generative AI Studio or Vertex AI in Google Cloud starting December 13.

OpenAI ChatGPT just recently completed its one-year journey that took the internet by storm as soon as it came. Google also did a comparison to see how better its LLM model Gemini Ultra is than Chat GPT 4 and ran 32 well-established benchmarks. As per Google “With a score of 90.0%, Gemini Ultra is the first model to outperform human experts on MMLU (massive multitask language understanding),

which uses a combination of 57 subjects such as math, physics, history, law, medicine, and ethics for testing both world knowledge and problem-solving abilities”.
