Earlier the users were only able to send voice notes to each other but with this new feature, the users will be able to share 60 seconds short videos with their contacts. Also, these video messages will be end-to-end encrypted and even the recipient will not be able to forward this video message. Though the video messages can be saved by using the screen recorder.
Also both the sender and receiver need to update their Whatsapp to the latest version in order to send and receive video messages. For iOS the version is 23.12.0.71 while for Android the updated Whatsapp version is 2.23.13.4.
In order to check whether this new feature is available on your device or not user needs to tap on the microphone button within the chat bar and if it turns into a video camera button, the user can record video messages starting today. The advantage of this video message is that the recipient will know that the video is not pre-recorded which will be proving the authenticity of your message.
