WhatsApp ‘Chat Lock’, add an additional security layer to your texts and hide texts that needs to remain discreet

WhatsApp recently introduced a ‘Chat Lock’ function, which was meant to add another layer of security and privacy to our messages. In a recent Twitter update, WhatsApp is reminding its users about the function.

We recently covered WhatsApp’s new ‘WhatsApp Chat’ feature, which you check here.

The ‘Chat Lock’ function in WhatsApp, takes a locked message out of the inbox and keeps it in a separate folder. This can be accessed only with a device password or biometric, like a fingerprint. Moreover, the contents of that particular chat also get hidden from notifications.

WhatsApp wanted to provide an additional layer of security to people who are in situations where they have to share their phones now and then with other family members and peers. This feature is also supposed to help you out in situations when someone else is holding your phone and a special text that is supposed to be discreet arrives.

Here’s how to lock a chat in WhatsApp.

First, you need to tap a particular one-to-one chat or a group. Then you can tap on the lock option.

Secondly, to reveal these chats once again, you can pull down your inbox and enter the necessary password or biometric.

WhatsApp also plans on introducing extra enhanced features for this particular function in the near future.
