WhatsApp new feature “Protect IP address in calls” will soon make platform more secure than ever before

In recent times we have seen WhatsApp rolling out a number of new features. And once again WhatsApp has made an effort to make the platform more secure than ever before. This effort is related to a security feature in its beta versions for both Android and iOS that is known as “Protect IP address in calls”. This new feature is under development and has been discovered by a reliable source WABetainfo. As per the WABetainfo now users “can add an extra layer of security to their calls by protecting their IP address and location from malicious actors”.

The screenshot shared shows that a new “Advanced” section has been added within the Privacy setting screen. WhatsApp has mentioned that as soon as you enable this feature it makes it harder for people to infer your location. And “calls on the device will be securely relayed through WhatsApp”. However, it has also mentioned that it will reduce the quality of the call. Currently, it is available to some beta testers only and is expected to roll out on a broader basis soon.
