Ontario: Leaked emails between Russian officials and Ontario | ONC4RC wants to vote out Ford
As per the tweets, it claims that the Ontario Coalition for the Rights of Children (ONC4RC) is urging the province to publicize a website called votewell.ca. They stated that by doing so, they were purposefully voting Ford out because of Doug Ford’s ties to the Russians. It’s time to get the Ford out of the garage. We came to know that a trusted adviser to Ontario Premier Doug Ford admits relaying a message to the Premier’s Office regarding attempts to arrange a meeting between members of the Government of Ontario and the Russian Federation, according to emails leaked to the public.
Furthermore, Russian government officials, expelled diplomats, Russian corporate companies sanctioned by the US, and Ontario PC insiders linked to wealthy Ontario developers were all participating in the backchannel communications. Klees revealed to PressProgress that he got a request to arrange a meeting between Ford and Russian authorities in an interview. That message was delivered straight to Dean French, Ford’s Chief-of-Staff at the time, according to Klees.
As per the sources, in September 2018, Klees was emailed a backchannel communication from Kirill Mikhaylov, the Russian Consul General of Toronto, seeking help on how to set up phone contact with “Premier Doug Ford,” according to the emails. Following three months of backchannel conversations between Wallace and Kirill Kalinin, a Russian Embassy officer in Ottawa who had been expelled from Canada a few months before, Klees received the email.
The email chain shows Kalinin looped in Russian Ambassador to Canada Alexander Darchiev who greenlit the plan and suggested they “engage” Consul General Mikhaylov in Toronto and an economic adviser named Sergey Strokov. William Moore confirmed to PressProgress his involvement in a planned Russia “trade mission.”
Moore, who was recently appointed by Ford’s government to the Ontario Arts Council board of directors earlier this year, runs a consulting firm specializing in “strategic planning and communications strategy” doing work for “corporate, non-profit and government clients.”
Coming to the Tweet, some of the users claim that the Russians had requested a meeting four years ago, but it was not held. In this election, voter registration is at an all-time high, which will assist the bottom line. One of them stated that it is causing them the same amount of anxiety. Some ridings are extremely close in terms of LIB/NDP popular vote forecasts, therefore the SV might be either, depending on data sources. As a result, a high voting turnout is critical.
Moreover, another user claimed that votewell says to vote NDP if they want the PCs out, and votethemallout says to vote liberal, so if other ridings are also offering out clashing instructions, the votes might be too split to get let go of Ford. Finally, according to the website advised by OC4RC, the liberals are the party to vote for in their riding, therefore depending on which site people visit, votes could be split even more instead of Ford being voted out.
