Android 15 Beta 2 Released for OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open: Changelog and Details Inside

OnePlus has just rolled out a major update for OnePlus 12 users in the India region. Now, there is more good news for those who have been waiting for the Android 15 Beta 2 update for the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open. OnePlus has officially announced today that it is releasing the Android 15 Beta 2 update for the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open users. Those who want to test out the Beta 2 update should be mindful that this is not a stable version, so make sure you really want to check it out. It is also advisable to completely back up your smartphone before proceeding with this update.

Changelog

System

  • Improves system stability and performance.
  • Fixes an issue that the Auto Pixlate function fails during screenshot preview.
  • Fixes some issues in the split-screen model on the main screen. ( OnePlus Open ONLY)

Connection

  • Fixes Bluetooth compatibility issues in specific scenarios.
  • Fixes some problems that the Multi-Screen Connect function is abnormal when connecting with a PC or PAD.
  • Fixes an issue that the Personal hotspot may not be able to open after modifying the security settings.

Camera

• Fixes some functional issues of the camera in specific scenarios.

• Fixes the issue of the Smart Image Matting function failure in certain scenarios.

Apps

• Fixes compatibility issues with some third-party apps.

Here are some of the known issues

OnePlus 12

  1. • When playing music, pull down the control center and click the media output button of the media player panel, the system interface stops running.
  2. • Air gesture cannot be turned off after it is turned on.
  3. • The camera may freeze when switching to HI-RES mode when taking photos.
  4. • When setting the icon style in the Wallpapers & style, switching failed between Aquamorphic icons and custom icons.
  5. • There are probabilistic stability issues in certain scenarios.

OnePlus Open

  1. Recent task cards do not disappear after splitting the screen in certain scenarios.
  2. The photo does not show the ProXDR button after taking a photo in specific scenarios.
  3. The booting animation interface on the external screen is incomplete.
  4. After opening the floating window on the desktop, the taskbar displays abnormally when switching between the main screen and the outer screen.

I have created a table according to region, just follow these steps to update your smartphone to Android 15 Beta 2

Region Steps Notes
EU & IN (European Uinion and India) – Download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server. – Copy the ROM upgrade package to the phone storage.

– Go to Settings -> About device -> Version.

– Click Build number 7 times and enter the password to enter developer mode.

– Go back to Settings -> About device -> Up to date.

– Click the top right button -> Local install.

– Click on the corresponding installation package -> Extract -> Upgrade.

– Wait until the system upgrade is completed to 100%.

– After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.

– Update successful.

This upgrade method only works for IN and EU versions. It will erase all the contents of the phone, so please back up first.
NA(North America) – Download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server.

– Copy the upgrade package to the phone storage.

– Install the required APK.

– Open the app -> tap the top right gear icon.

– Find the upgrade package and tap it.

– Wait to finish the installation.

– Tap Reboot.

– After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.

– Update successful.

This upgrade method only works for NA versions. It will erase all the contents of the phone, so please back up first.

If for some reason, you want to roll back follow the steps in the table below

Region Steps Notes
EU & IN(European Union and India) – Download the latest ROM rollback zip package from the specified server.

– Copy the ROM rollback package to the phone storage.

– Go to Settings -> About device -> Version.

– Click Build number 7 times and enter the password to enter developer mode.

– Go back to Settings -> About device -> Up to date.

– Click the top right button -> Local install.

– Click on the corresponding rollback package -> Extract -> Upgrade.

– Wait until the system upgrade is completed to 100%.

– After the rollback is complete, click Restart.

– Rollback successful.

This downgrade method only works for EU and IN versions. It will erase all the contents of the phone, so please back up first. Some applications may be lost after upgrading since Android Beta 2 is underdeveloped. You can restore lost applications by updating to the latest MP version via Local OTA update.
NA(North America) – Download the latest ROM rollback zip package from the specified server.

– Copy the rollback package to the phone storage.

– Install the required APK.

– Open the app -> tap the top right gear icon.

– Find the downgrade package and tap it.

– Wait to finish the installation.

– Tap Reboot.

– After the rollback is complete, click Restart.

– Rollback successful.

This downgrade method only works for NA versions. It will erase all the contents of the phone, so please back up first. Some applications may be lost after upgrading since Android 15 Beta 2 is underdeveloped. You can restore lost applications by updating to the latest MP version via Local OTA update.

If you aren’t able to click the local install follow these steps

  • Disconnect all Wi-Fi and Mobile data
  • Go to Settings -> Apps -> App management -> Click the top right button -> Show system -> Search “Software update” in the search bar and tap “Software update” -> Storage usage -> Clear data
  • Keep all networks disconnected and repeat the upgrade or rollback guide​
