Are we going to see Battery Health feature with Android 14 update?
Google recently unveiled the latest iteration of its Android operating system at Google I/O 2023. Its launch was followed by the announcement of its features and Android 14 Beta for the Pixel phone. When most of the brand’s smartphones have already rolled out the beta version of Android 14 a new feature update has again grabbed the eyeballs.
Battery Health feature
A Twitter user named Mishaal Rahman has shared a screenshot of this Pixel 7 Pro smartphone display showing Google’s battery health feature. He wrote “I bought a used Pixel 7 Pro recently and thought it was a shame that Google’s battery health feature hasn’t been released.
It’d be nice to see how many charge cycles it’s had or the estimated % of its original capacity. Fortunately, Google’s made it possible in Android 14!”

The battery health feature is already available in iPhones and this tweet suggests that users will see this with the Android 14 OS update. This new API presents some significant information about batteries which includes cycle count, charging status, manufacturing date, battery health, and more. However, these APIs are only available to Pixel smartphones running Android 14 Beta 2 or higher.
The user further mentioned in the thread that two of the APIs are public while the other two are system APIs. Using this knowledge developer @narektor developed an open-source health application named Batt which uses advanced features of Android 14 to present comprehensive battery health statistics.
Though this third-party app like Batt is a temporary solution, Google will soon be introducing its own battery health feature.
