Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S24 Ultra And Galaxy Z Fold 6 Users Notice Satellite Messaging Feature In USA

Recently T-mobile opened beta registrations for text messaging service via the direct-to-cell Starlink satellites and this beta service is said to go into operation in early 2025. Well, it is now reported that some Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 6 users on T-Mobiles network (postpaid line) in the USA have witnessed satellite messaging features on their phones. This feature is listed as Satellite Networks in the Settings menu. Check out the below screenshots.

The feature will only be available to users who applied to test the T-Mobile Starlink service. As per users, this new feature appeared after installing December 2024 security patch. It was found while going to Settings>Connections>Satellite Networks.

It is said that once the beta testing starts, users of compatible phones will be able to send and receive text messages even in areas without cellular coverage but a clear view of the sky is required. In the above screenshot, it is explained that Satellite messaging may take longer and is available only in some areas. Weather and certain structures may affect your satellite connection. While calling via satellite isn’t available. Emergency calls may still connect if a mobile network is available nearby.

It is said that this feature may work with any phone with LTE connectivity, though T-Mobile and Starlink currently only support some phones and Samsung devices are included in the list.
