Google officially rolls out WearOS 5.1 update based on Android 15 to LTE Pixel Watch 2 & Pixel Watch 3 as well as original Pixel Watch

Google is officially rolling out a WearOS 5.1 update based on Android 15 for the LTE Pixel Watch 3 and LTE Pixel Watch 2, as well as the original Pixel Watch. Earlier, this update was limited to only the Bluetooth/WiFi versions of Pixel Watch 2 and 3.

It is revealed that Google is moving to quarterly (3 months) updates for the Pixel Watch, rather than monthly as it was until November 2024. So now the next update should be expected in June 2025.

LTE Pixel Watch 2, LTE Pixel Watch 3 & Pixel Watch: WearOS 5.1 update rolled out

The update for Pixel Watch arrives with firmware version BP1A.250305.019.W2, while for Pixel Watch 2 & 3 (LTE models), it arrives with firmware version BP1A.250305.019.W3. The update includes the March 2025 security patch and brings various changes to the watches.

Changelog-

  • Support for Credential Managers (including passkeys and federated identity)
  • Playback through the watch speaker: Users can select this speaker as their preferred option for media output if the app is integrated with the Wear Output Switcher.
  • New “Modes” settings item to configure the existing “Do not disturb”, “Bed-Time” and “in theater” modes.
  • You can now change the Display (UI) size. Previously, you could only change the font size.
  • New color accent in settings. Instead of lettuce, a pale purple color is now used.

Apart from this some new features were also added along with March Pixel Feature drop for the watches:

  • Loss of Pulse Detection detection for Pixel Watch 3 owners in the US.
  • Menstrual cycle tracking in the Fitbit app for Pixel Watch 3.
  • Auto Bed-Time Mode is now available for Pixel Watch 2.
  • Updated step counting algorithm with improved accuracy – all models.
  • New media controls for fast-forwarding and rewinding, adjusting playback speed, or managing playback queue.
