Google To Release A Update For Pixel 4a Users To Improve Battery Performance; Some Affected Users May Be Eligible For Free Battery Replacement
Pixel 4a made its debut in India in the year 2020 and it was in August 2023, when the device stopped receiving its monthly updates. The device currently runs on Android 13 OS. Well interestingly various Pixel 4a users revealed on the Reddit platform that they have received an email from the company that states that the device will soon receive a firmware update.
Pixel 4a To Soon Receive A Firmware Update
As per the email, Google will be rolling out an automatic software update based on Android 13 to Pixel 4a smartphone with new battery management features to improve the stability of your device. The users are also warned that this update will reduce the running time and charging performance of their battery.
This warning by the brand has put the users in a haze about this update. But you need not worry as Google also has come up with several options to solve this battery problem.
Firstly, not all Pixel 4a devices are impacted by the reduction in battery capacity and charging performance but the devices that will be affected with this update will be offered a free battery replacement. Battery replacement is available at walk-in repair centers in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Singapore, and India. Mail-in repair is available for US customers.
Pixel 4a users need to keep in mind that if their device has other forms of damage like liquid damage, exposure to sharp objects, or excessive force it may not qualify for free battery replacement. Also if your device has out-of-warranty damage like display or coverglass cracks, then there may be a fee to repair your device. Users who are not eligible for the replacement, need not worry as they have other options like-

- $100 USD Google hardware discount code is applicable towards the purchase of another Pixel phone on the Google store.
Those who are eligible will have one year from initial release (8th January 2025) to register and make a choice of one of the three options.
