No One UI 7.1? Tipster claims Samsung will skip straight to OneUI 8 after OneUI 7 rollout

Samsung has been delaying the release of One UI 7 for older Galaxy smartphones, leaving users frustrated. While newer devices are launching with One UI 7, older Galaxy models remain stuck on the beta update.
Earlier rumours suggested that Samsung would skip One UI 7.1 entirely and move straight to One UI 8.0, based on Android 16, after rolling out One UI 7, which is based on Android 15. This speculation has now been reinforced by well-known tipster Ice Universe, who stated in an X post: “The next version of One UI 7.0 is One UI 8.0; there is no One UI 7.1 or 7.1.1.”
In a previous post, he also hinted that Samsung might release One UI 8 earlier than expected, though he did not specify a timeline. Given the significant delay in rolling out One UI 7, Samsung could indeed be planning an early launch of One UI 8 to make up for lost time.

As per his latest update, there will be no One UI 7.1 or 7.1.1, most likely due to these delays. While even budget 5G smartphones like the Galaxy F06 5G—launched in India—come with One UI 7 out of the box, older Samsung flagships are still waiting for the update.
Recently, another tipster suggested that the One UI 7 rollout might begin in mid-April 2025. However, this remains a rumour, as Samsung has yet to officially confirm a release timeline.
