Nothing OS 2.5 Closed Beta 1 Update for Phone (1)

As this is the closed beta update, the previously selected members will only be receiving the update and not all, and as per reported, it is currently rolling out. The update has a total size of 1.22GB and brings most of the features that were introduced to the Phone (2) with the Nothing OS 2.5 open beta 2 update.

About the changelogs, firstly the Nothing OS 2.5 beta version based on the Android 14 operating system will be integrated to the device, enabling users to access features of the brand’s next major firmware before it is officially made available to its devices.

On the customization side, a re-designed home and lock screen customization page is present, along with improved edit wallpaper flow options. New “Atmosphere” and “Glass” wallpaper effects, and solid color wallpapers are part of the update. In the basic color section, a monochrome color theme has also been added.

In the Glyph Interface, Google’s Calendar app has been integrated with it, providing a 5-minute countdown for upcoming events. The Glyph Timer also now supports time presets, and it can be accessed from the lock screen itself without unlocking the device. An option has also been added which will allow users to launch Glyph Timer popup by simply tapping on it. There is also a new animation that has been added for NFC(when it is being used).

Regarding some gesture actions, a customizable double-press-power-button function has been added to easily access the selected feature. More lock screen shortcuts have also been added with options such as Do-Not-Disturb, Mute, QR code scanner, & video camera. Screenshots can be captured with three finger swipe, and a new screenshot editor and menu are also there for better editing.

A few other improvements like a more optimized Weather app, added predictive back animation, updated volume control interface with options to set ringtone and notifications sound separately, updated Quick Settings layout, improved camera stability, and enhanced system stability, are also present with the update.

For those interested users who weren’t selected for the closed beta program, the open beta program is expected to begin by the end of this month in December 2023, or early next month in January 2024, which will allow more users to experience the Nothing OS 2.5 on their Phone (1) device. Stay tuned.
