Nothing OS 2.6 Update Rolls Out for Phone (2): Enhanced Gaming, Security, and System Stability

Nothing has released its latest OS 2.6 update for Phone (2), bringing a host of performance enhancements, bug fixes, and the latest security patch. The update fine-tunes gameplay, system stability, and overall user experience, marking a solid improvement for users ahead of the anticipated OS overhaul.

Key Features of Nothing OS 2.6 Update

  • Higher Refresh Rate for PUBG: PUBG now supports a 90 fps refresh rate on the Phone (2), providing a smoother and more immersive gaming experience.
  • Enhanced Quick Settings Navigation: Improved fluidity when swiping down to access Quick Settings, making it more responsive and seamless.
  • Optimised Ultra HDR Display Effects: Ultra HDR has been fine-tuned to deliver even better photo quality for enhanced visuals.
  • Updated Security Patch: This update includes the October security patch, enhancing device protection against potential threats.
  • Bluetooth Quick Settings Fix: A bug causing Bluetooth tile information to remain outdated in Quick Settings has been resolved.
  • Improved System Stability: General stability improvements promise a more reliable and consistent experience.

To update to Nothing OS 2.6, users can go to Settings > System > System Update.

Looking Forward to Nothing OS 3.0

On a side note, Nothing has also started rolling out an open beta 2 of Nothing OS 3.0, indicating exciting features and further improvements on the horizon for Phone (2) users.

  • Shared Widgets: A standout feature in this update, Shared Widgets allow users to link up with friends and family by displaying each other’s widgets on their home screens. Currently, only Photo Widgets (square) are supported for sharing, but Nothing is actively working to expand this feature to other widget types in the near future. Please note that as Shared Widgets are still in beta, users might experience some issues, and the feature is currently only available on Nothing devices.
  • Upgraded HDR Algorithm: The update improves the HDR algorithm, delivering better photo quality with enhanced stability. This optimises brightness and clarity, especially when using the Ultra HDR Mode.
  • Optimised Portrait Mode: Enhancements have been made to the Portrait Mode for more accurate depth detection and better photo results.
  • Smoother Gameplay: For gaming enthusiasts, PUBG now supports a higher refresh rate of 90 fps, resulting in smoother and more responsive gameplay.
  • Visual and Performance Updates: The update brings an updated charging animation with a new dot style, as well as AI-powered app selection that prioritises frequently used apps, keeping them easily accessible for a smoother, more efficient experience.
  • Onboarding Guide for Pop-up View: A new onboarding guide has been added for first-time users of the Pop-up View, helping them navigate and use the feature more effectively.
  • General Bug Fixes and Improvements: The update also includes several bug fixes and general performance enhancements to improve system stability.
