Nothing Phone(1) receives Android 14 Beta 3 update and will receive Nothing OS 2.0 by the end of August

Nothing is not only known to disrupt the tech market with the characteristic design of its feature products but is also known for its service of keeping users always updated. Once again adding to this, Nothing has begun to roll out Android 14 Beta 3 for the second phase of the Developer Preview Program for Nothing Phone(1). Nothing has cautioned on its blog post that “it is better suited for developers and other advanced users, but not recommended for ordinary users”.

Android 14 is still in the development stage so some features are either missing or not working. As soon as you will download this update your phone storage will be formatted so make sure to back up your information before it. Nothing has been mentioned in its blog post about the known issue and new things that this update brings.

Known issue

  • Fingerprints can’t be registered
  • Face unlock unavailable
  • Glyph features unavailable
  • Battery sharing unavailable
  • No Portrait Mode or slow motion feature in the camera app
  • No pre-installed Nothing Weather and Nothing X apps
  • Screen cast to TV connection unavailable

What’s new

  • New support for API level 34 based on Android 14 Beta 3
  • Preinstalled apps including Nothing Launcher, Weather, Recorder
  • Preinstalled Nothing widgets

This is not the sole news to be happy about because Nothing also confirmed that Nothing OS 2.0 will be coming to Phone(1) users before the end of August. This skin comes preloaded with the Nothing Phone(2) and is based on Android 13. Nothing founder Carl Pei confirmed just after the launch of Nothing Phone(2) that Nothing OS 2.0 will reach Nothing Phone(1) users by the end of August and once again Nothing has confirmed it.
