OnePlus 12’s latest OxygenOS 15.0.0.501 update brings BeaconLink, January 2025 Security patch and more

OnePlus has started rolling out a big 1.03GB OxygenOS 15.0.0.501 update (firmware version CPH2573_15.0.0.501(EX01)) for OnePlus 12 users in India. This new update brings several new features, including a “Touch to share” feature that enables file sharing with iOS devices. As this is a phased rollout that typically takes 1-2 weeks to complete, users should expect to receive the update gradually over the coming days.

The update adds a new app called BeaconLink. Some might find this useful, as the app allows calling even without WiFi or mobile network connectivity. To use BeaconLink, you will need to navigate to Settings > Mobile network > BeaconLink, set up your display name and calling preferences, and ensure Bluetooth, Quick Connect, and Interconnect Security Services are enabled. The feature requires several permissions, including phone, notifications, contacts, and Bluetooth access.

It doesn’t support multi-way calls, and both users must have enabled chat without a network. And yes, the other user also needs to be in Bluetooth range of each other. So, this is more like a walkie-talkie.

Earlier, this feature was developed for the OPPO smartphones and is now being extended to OnePlus phones.

This update also includes the January 2025 security patch.
