OnePlus releases OxygenOS Beta testing Application Guide for users

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer, OnePlus has been widely famous among the consumers for introducing smartphones that are equipped with some of the self-developed technologies of the brand. The brand has launched devices from affordable range to flagship smartphones so that the consumers can go for the OnePlus device that suits best in the users budget.

OnePlus will now soon be announcing Beta Testing for it’s users in different phases so that the brand can receive the feedback from users and release a stable version for OxygenOS for the users worldwide. Before announcing different versions the company has released an OxygenOS Beta testing application guide on it’s community page.

As per the guide the Beta testing will be carried in two phases- Closed Beta Testing version and Open Beta Testing version. After releasing these versions the company will be releasing the official version. To be a part of the Beta testing users should keep in mind;

  • Confirm your device is accords with the requirements.
  • Ensure the current version is updated to the detectable base version.
  • Remember to backup important personal data before updating to avoid the risk of data loss.

Closed Beta Testing version will be released for selected users as it is still in the development stage and might contain few bugs or compatibility issues. The aim behind this version is that the early adopters experience in advance this version and help the engineers to find and fix problems.

Steps to apply for Closed Beta Testing version

  1. Mind the time range of application. We’ll announce future Closed Beta Testing programs in the Community.
  2. Go to Settings > About device > Tap up to date > Tap icon on the top right > Beta program > Beta > Apply now
  3. Wait for the review and join the Telegram group via the invitation message once your application is verified.
  4. Download the version after application passed: Settings > About device > Download Now. 

Open Beta Testing version will also not be widely released but it will be a more matured build of OxygenOS as it will be released after fixing some of the issues found in Closed Beta testing version. Though it may still have unstability or compatibility issues.

Steps to apply for Open Beta Testing version

  1. Mind the time range of application. We’ll announce once a new Open Beta Testing Version is available.
  2. Go to Settings > About device > Tap up to date > Tap icon on the top right > Beta program > Beta > Apply now.
  3. Wait for the review and download the version after application passed following the path: Settings > About device > Download Now.

OxygenOS official version is the widely released build launched after further testing and bug fixing during Open Beta Testing phase. This version will be first released for beta testers and then rolled out to all users.

Steps to upgrade to an Official version

If you don’t want to wait for the wider rollout, you can follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Settings > About device > Tap up to date > Tap icon on the top right > Beta program > Official > Apply now.
  2. Go to Settings >About device > Download No
