Here’s more about it.

Samsung to Offer 5 Years of Android OS Updates

Samsung is already committed to offering 4 years of Android OS updates and 5 years of security updates to its various devices of the Galaxy Z, S, Tab, and A series, and this was announced way back in early 2022 starting from the 2021 S21 series devices. Before this, the company had announced 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates in 2021. Now the brand is taking one more step forward to offer Android OS update support for 5 years.

This update comes from a tipster on Twitter, Dani(@daniidani77) who has shared an image headlined “Environmental responsibility”. It is mentioned in the image that Samsung’s Galaxy Z devices are made using recycled materials including glass, fishing nets, plastic, and aluminum and Samsung is particularly committed to offering its Galaxy Z devices 5 years of OS updates and 7 years of parts availability. In his tweet, the tipster further also adds that the 5-year OS update support will start with Galaxy Z series devices and is coming to the Galaxy S series devices as well.

Samsung is going to conduct its Unpacked Event today, on the 26th of July 2023 and the brand is expected to unveil a lot of its latest devices at the grand event, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldable devices. Samsung hasn’t officially announced anything regarding the 5 years OS update plan yet, but if it is true, the brand is sure to get an upper hand in terms of the OS update support offered when compared to other leading smartphone manufacturers.
