Xiaomi HyperOS Latest Technology Successfully Warns of Earthquake for the First Time in China

Xiaomi had introduced the China Mobile Earthquake Monitoring and Early Warning Network on its HyperOS custom skin and the feature has successful informed of an earthquake for the first time in China.

Here’s more about it.

Xiaomi China Mobile Earthquake Monitoring and Early Warning Network Successful

Xiaomi’s China Mobile Earthquake Monitoring and Early Warning Network is the fruit of four years of continuous research and development with the Chengdu Hi-Tech Disaster Reduction Research Institute, and also with the help of more than 990,000 enrolled volunteers that have been part of the brand’s Earthquake Monitoring Volunteer Program.

Making use of the low-power sensors on Xiaomi smartphone devices, seismic waves are detected or sensed and using the AI algorithms, the system calculates the earthquake information. Once the process gets completed, an early warning is provided to people of the affected areas, buying them time to reach a more safer location and avoid danger.

For the first time ever, Xiaomi has provided a real time early earthquake warning, proving the technology to be successful in the detection of earthquakes.

The brand plans to further optimize and improve this feature, making it much more reliable in the detection of earthquakes, and thereby allowing the technology to become a part of the earthquake early warning network.  To note, the technology currently also has the capability of providing earthquake warnings in areas that aren’t covered by the existing monitoring network.

Xiaomi is also inviting more Xiaomi smartphone users to become a part of their Earthquake Monitoring Volunteer Program. Interested candidates in China can be a part by visiting the “Mobile Manager”, selecting “Early Warning Centre”, and tapping on “Earthquake Warning”. This way, all Xiaomi smartphone devices will become earthquake monitors too.
