Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Chipset Launched: 30% Faster than Gen 2

The American semiconductor company, Qualcomm, has finally launched its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The brand has also revealed that smartphones equipped with the latest flagship chipset will be debuting soon in the coming weeks.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

The latest flagship chipset from Qualcomm, the third generation Snapdragon 8, has been made using the 4nm process technology and is an octa-core processor. It has a core configuration with a Cortex-X4 primary core, having a clock speed of 3.3 GHz, along with five performance cores and two efficiency cores clocked at 3.2 GHz and 2.3 GHz, respectively.

Compared to its previous generation, the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be 30% faster and 20% more efficient. The GPU integrated within the chipset is also 25% faster and 25% more efficient, with 40% better Ray Tracing capability. To add, it supports LPDDR5x RAM with up to 4800 MHz frequency, and up to 24GB RAM capacity.

Qualcomm has also designed its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in such a manner that more emphasis and focus have been given to improving the AI, gaming, audio, and camera features of the processor.

The AI Engine within the chipset will be able to give instant AI-assisted responses, and will also help in enhancing the camera’s abilities. When looking at the gaming specs, Qualcomm’s chipset will be able to offer a better gaming performance to the users and will support 240Hz display and 240 FPS. It also has the Unreal Engine 5.2 support, as well as the Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0.

Regarding the connectivity features, the chipset supports Wi-Fi 7 which supports up to 6GHz bands, and has the X75 5G modem with sub-6 GHz and mmWave antennas. It will also be able to deliver 24-bit 96 kHz lossless music via Bluetooth.

Qualcomm has already partnered with many leading smartphone makers and has confirmed that devices with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset onboard, will be unveiled soon.
