Qualcomm Unveils its Snapdragon X Elite Processor: Delivers 2x More Performance
Qualcomm’s latest processor for ARM laptops running on the Windows operating system – the Snapdragon X Elite, is now official. The newly unveiled processor is said to offer two times more performance when compared to its competitors.
Here’s more about Qualcomm’s latest processor.
Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite Processor Unveiled
The Snapdragon X Elite processor from Samsung is made using the 4nm process technology and is powered by the brand’s own Oryon CPU and Adreno GPU. It has been claimed that a faster CPU and GPU performance can be expected on the chipset, which will be twice as fast when compared to other such processors, along with 4.5x faster AI processing speed.
Speaking more, the processor equips itself with 12 high-performance Oryon cores that are clocked at 3.8 GHz, and with a single and dual-core boost of up to 4.2 GHz. On multi-threaded performance, Qualcomm’s CPU competes well with Intel’s 13th Gen CPUs and draws 68% lesser power. A 50% faster multi-threaded performance is also claimed when compared to Apple’s ARM-based M2 chip.
Now coming to the GPU side, as mentioned, it has the Adreno GPU, supporting DirectX 12 API, and is capable of handling 6 trillion floating-point calculations every second (4.6 TFLOPs), on average. The processor will also be able to support 3x external UHD monitors, having a refresh rate of 60Hz. The Adreno video processing unit(VPU) can also be put into use by video editors.
Apart from the CPU and GPU, Qualcomm has also added a Hexagon NPU with 45 TOPs (Trillions or Tera Operations per Second). The Hexagon NPU will be capable of generating AI tasks and will be able to handle 13 billion running parameters and generate 30 tokens each every second.
Regarding its connectivity support, the processor supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. It also has the FastConnect 7800 System and the Snapdragon X65 5G modem. Storage supports include LPDDR5x RAM with a memory bandwidth of up to 136 GB/s and a total cache of 42MB and also support for PCIe Gen4 or UFS 4.0 storage.
Other features are the Qualcomm Spectra ISP which supports up to 36MP dual cameras along with 4K HDR video capture capability, and also lossless audio playback with Qualcomm’s Aqstic DAC(Digital to Analog converter).
