As we informed earlier, ISRO scheduled its first TV – D1 test flight for the Gaganyaan mission for 21St October 2023. The same was successfully executed today.
The test flight was scheduled to be launched at 8:00 a.m. However, technical faults led to the engine of TV–D1 not working initially, and it was aborted at 8:45 a.m.
Subsequently, the launch commenced again at 10:00 a.m., eventually achieving success.
The TV–D1 test flight had to see how the Crew escape system for the Gaganyaan mission performed. Evaluation of the Crew Module performance, Crew Escape separation, deceleration system at higher altitudes, and its recovery, were the objectives of the undertaken test flight.
With the successful completion of the TV–D1 test flight mission, ISRO is one step closer to sending humans into space as part of the Gaganyaan mission. The Gaganyaan mission will launch a three-membered crew into an orbit of 400 km. The mission will be for 3 days. The crew would return by landing on the Indian waters.
India is looking forward to being the fourth nation on the list that has undertaken a manned spaceflight mission. The nations already on the success list are US, Russia, and China.
